Wassup in a Minute Trend: Origin, Timeline and How to Join
The wassup in a minute trend, dated: the Oct 5 head bop, @ristyisvalid’s Oct 23 post, spin-offs, how to join.
Last updated: 2026-11-01
The wassup in a minute trend is a TikTok format that took off in late October 2026: a hand-drawn, full-body street character stands on a white background and bops to a jersey club remix of Drake’s “From Time”, feet planted and hips wobbling on every beat. It is named after the caption “Wassup in a minute👀” that TikTok animator @ristyisvalid put on his Oct 23 post animating @aka_zayy’s “Atlanta Lock” drawings. The same sound had already carried a real-person head-bop dance since Oct 5. You will also see it spelled “wass up in a minute” or “whats up in a minute”.

What the format is
- One character, head to toe, centred in a three-quarter stance on plain white and cut out like a sticker, with a soft grey drop shadow to the lower right. The camera never moves and there is no text on screen.
- Atlanta streetwear: a puffer jacket or oversized tee, a designer belt, skinny ripped jeans, sneakers, a cap, gold chains and, in many shots, a fan of cash in one hand.
- The bop: the feet stay pinned. On every beat, about every 0.44 seconds (the remix runs at about 135 BPM), the upper body dips by about 2% of the frame height and springs back. The hips wobble most, the part the comments call “jelly”, and over each shot the body leans slowly to one side. Arms and props jiggle a little.
- The cut: Risty’s original runs 14 seconds in 4:5, with four characters of about 3.4 seconds (eight beats) each and quick fades through white between them. Most copies are 9:16.
- How it is made: one still drawing warped like a puppet, not frame-by-frame animation. Risty hasn’t said which software he uses.
The name is a mishearing of the remix’s chopped vocal: what “wassup in a minute” means has the details, and the song page covers the track and where to find the sound.
The spin-offs
- Other anime and cartoons: Jujutsu Kaisen (searches for “atlanta jjk” jumped), My Hero Academia, One Piece, Mob Psycho 100 and Rick and Morty, drawn in the same look.
- People next to the drawing: cosplayers dressed as the character, standing beside the animated version (matheogoose, 1.2M).
- People and animals doing the bop: the head-bop dance carried on, with a dog, a dolphin and AI-made people.
- Photo cut-outs: the CapCut template puts real photos into the format, from friends to K-pop idols and YouTubers.
- Overlays and stickers: a food creator set the animated Isagi beside a dessert (828K), and the comments keep asking for the characters as stickers.
The CapCut templates
Two free templates carry most of the do-it-yourself wave:
- “in a minute wassup” by TIRTA [AOT] (created Oct 26): four photo slots, 15 seconds, square. It cuts real photos out onto white with a drop shadow and sways them. 443,386 uses by Oct 31 at 17:05 UTC, gaining about 21,000 an hour.
- “ai” by Future301 (created Oct 25): one image, 8 seconds, 4:5, with CapCut’s AI motion. 24,710 uses.
What each one gives you, step by step, is in how to make a wassup in a minute video.
Momentum on November 1
- Google: web searches for “wassup in a minute” started on Oct 24, peaked on Oct 29 and 30 and were still at 92 to 100% of that peak on Oct 31. YouTube searches, mostly people looking for the sound, peaked on Oct 30.
- TikTok: #wassupinaminute had 1,824 videos and 7.0M views, gaining about 57,000 views an hour. The tag undercounts the trend: Risty’s “Wassup in a minute” sound alone is on 7,576 videos (about 70 new ones an hour) and Zbee’s sound on about 19,000.
- CapCut: the TIRTA template was being used at about six times its average rate since launch.
- The turn: Risty is done (“2 more in me then I’m full”, Oct 28), and the original anime layer looks close to its peak. The do-it-yourself layer is the part still growing, much of it from Vietnamese, Thai, Khmer, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Indonesian speakers.
How to join the wassup in a minute trend
- Pick your version: yourself as a drawn street character (made from one photo here), a cut-out of your real photo in the free CapCut template, or your own drawing.
- Post with the trend’s sound, added in TikTok, so your video lands on the sound’s page.
- Caption it the trend’s way: “Wassup in a minute 👀” and #wassupinaminute.
- Credit artists. If your video uses someone else’s drawing, name them, the way Risty credits “Art: @Zayy 🌙”.
- Keep it fair: label AI-made videos as AI-generated, and only use photos of people who agreed.
What this site makes, and what it doesn’t
This site turns one photo of one adult into an original 2D manga-style street character that keeps the person’s face shape, hairstyle, hair colour and skin tone, in one of six Atlanta street looks picked at random, in the colours of their own clothes: a puffer with a fan of cash, a cap on a park bench, a crossbody bag with a palms-up “wassup”, a jersey with a bucket hat, a track jacket with chains, or a hoodie with a beanie. The character bounces on every beat, the upper body dipping and springing back, and sways slowly side to side, in place, on white with a soft drop shadow. You get a 10-second 9:16 MP4 at 720p with no watermark (usually under 5 minutes). One video is $3.99, one-time; see the examples and pricing.
It never makes existing anime characters such as Blue Lock or Jujutsu Kaisen characters, and it never uses anyone else’s drawing, video or audio: Zayy’s art and Risty’s animation are theirs. The download is silent; you add the sound when you post. Photos of minors, public figures, people who didn’t agree and more than one person are not allowed.
